We have been enjoying exploring our outdoor environment. We looked around and identified things that grow. We then talked about the different trees and plants, highlighting their similarities and differences and how they grow. We decided that we would like to enhance our wooded area by growing some colourful wild flowers to attract different mini beasts. We had lots of fun making our seed bombs!
Today we enjoyed the challenge of learning to ride our bikes without stabilisers with the help of Bike It Ben! He took off our pedals so we could practice balancing and enjoyed free wheeling down the playground. Some of us were so good at balancing, Bike It Ben put our pedals back on so we could balance and pedal at the same time! We had a great afternoon.
This week we have been focusing on our school project linking to British Values. We have been thinking about how we can show respect. We have learnt a rap to help us remember how to respect others.
In Reception Class this term, we have created a shoe shop in our role play area. Today we welcomed our visitor Ruth from 'Jump', a local shoe shop in Gosforth. We enjoyed learning about the jobs she does and the importance of having your feet measured correctly. We talked about the different shoes you would wear for different purposes and found out that there are 26 bones in each foot! We then explored using the measuring equipment to measure each others feet. We had so much fun!
We have made a great start to school and have enjoyed our first weeks in Reception Class. We have been learning our new routines and exploring new challenges.
We have particularly enjoyed working together to create some outdoor art in our wooded area. We found and used natural materials and clay to create our forest faces on the trees!
