As part of Mission Week Year 5 took part in the whole school pilgrimage. We walked as a whole school, following Year 6 who were carrying a cross, through Whickham and onto Chase Park. Once there we completed some very thoughtful work on what it means to be a strong link in a family or community chain. We each made a link for our class chain and thought about the things we can do to support each other.
Year 5 celebrated World Book Day in style this year, dressing up as their favourite characters from books they love!
Congratulations to Mollie and Daniel who took part in a Poetry Recital this week!
They travelled with Miss Cooke for the morning to St Philip Neri in Dunston where there were children from seven other schools in our primary cluster also attending. Mollie and Daniel had worked very hard to learn their poems off by heart - 'The Owl and the Pussycat' by Edward Lear and 'Matilda' by Hilaire Beloc.
Miss Cooke was so impressed with the way they performed their poems with confidence in front of such a large audience - you are both very brave!
Well done Mollie and Daniel - you represented St Mary's superbly!
