An amazing time was had by all last weekend as St Mary’s football team – representing Gateshead FC - came 2nd in the finals of the National League Trust Under-11s final at Wembley Stadium. A hotly contested competition saw Braintree FC deserving winners of the tournament, with Gateshead finishing ahead of Kidderminster and Telford on the day. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all involved (including Mr Colling and Mr Wheatley), the day saw the boys playing on the hallowed turf and collecting their runners-up trophies from the royal box, before taking in Forest Green’s 3-1 victory over Tranmere Rovers.
Also, since the last update, the school football team have advanced through both the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the prestigious Bishop's Cup - a competition for the all Catholic schools in our Diocese. This is another remarkable achievement for our team and we are looking forward for one final round of games for this group before the end of the year.
