Whilst computing is taught weekly for every child from Reception up to year 6, it is also an integral part of every lesson across the curriculum. The wealth of resources available to children enables them apply their knowledge of computers and technology, to the development of knowledge and understanding elsewhere. Our children can use PCs, laptops and iPads in the classroom to support research tasks, as well as having opportunities to develop ICT knowledge and skill across the Curriculum, designing programs and software to support art and DT, using data loggers to gather information in science and so much more.
In discrete Computing lessons, our teachers follow the Schemes of Work from ICT packages such as 'Purple Mash' which shows a clear progression in skills and understanding of technology from the EYFS up to Year 6. Most importantly, throughout these schemes children are being shown ways to stay safe when using computers and the internet and how they can protect themselves from any harm.
