Art and Design
The units in our Art and Design Curriculum provide a progression and continuity of learning experiences across the 6 areas of experience including drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, textiles and 3D. This range of experience begins in the EYFS where children explore different tools and techniques to create art and design work across every area of learning. In Key Stages 1 and 2, pupils are given numerous opportunities to develop technique and skill across a range of disciplines, and using a range of media. Art work is exhibited and success shared, and community artists are invited in to school to work with different Year groups each Term.

Design Technology
Design and technology aims to develop children’s knowledge, skills and understanding of how to develop ideas, plan their designs and make products, before evaluating and eventually improving them. This is achieved through whole-class teaching, individual/group activities and in the EYFS during child-initiated learning. Within lessons, we give children the opportunity both to work on their own and to collaborate with others, listening to other children’s ideas and treating these with respect. Children critically evaluate existing products, their own work and that of others. They have the opportunity to use a wide range of tool, materials and resources in the completion of their work. Technology can be seen in many different forms at our school from food technology and woodwork to computer-aided design and electrical mechanisms.
