The lady that found the balloon returned the ticket with a letter;
]]>Hello St Mary's R C School,
I am returning this balloon ticket which I found in the Cheviot Hills. This balloon probable hasn't travelled the furthest, but it certainly landed in a very beautiful and interesting place.
The ticket was on Ring Chesters - the site of a hillfort, near Elsdenburn Farm and Hethpool. When I discovered the tickent it was surrounded by a group of sheep. They were scratching their heads and looking puzzled. As sheep are not too hot in the reading and writing department I offered to send it back to your school.
It might be worth having a look on the internet/google etc. to see what you find out about Ring Chesters and the Cheviots.
Everyone made a mini version of themselves and put it on the front to make the shape of a wedding cake!
Last of all, everyone put their very own message inside. It looks great!
Thank you so much to all the parents and children who put so much time into it. It will be very treasured!! I'd also like to say thank you for the beautiful bracelet. I really love it, and it shall be making an appearance on my wedding day!!

The children in our class asked Dr Ben lots of questions about his job!
At the end, Dr Ben even read us a story using lots of different voices! We had a brilliant time - thank you for coming to visit us, Dr Ben!
KS1 performed their warm up then they were ready to go!
Competition was fierce - but fair and the winning team took the trophy on a lap of honour round the field. Well done the Blue Team.
Sadly Mrs Briggs left our school last term after many years of looking after the children during lunchtimes. She was presented with gifts and cards from all the children and staff and left us with a poem of some of her memories.

We also found out about how bodies change depending on where you live. Some children made a desert home....
and some went to the icy North pole!
Jasmine became a scientist, and showed everybody how to make a bottle explode. Good job she was wearing safety goggles!
We also found out about the size of a gorilla's hand - I wouldn't want to meet the whole gorilla!
We all had great fun in the space dome, and floated just like real astronauts. The last ride was quite scary, but we loved it! Just watch this space for photos in the newspaper of our class with Sporticus...

They sompeted against 7 other schools representing North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland. The children all played 7 matches and took part in many different skills challenges over the day. When all of the results were added up, St Mary's Whckham were announced as the runners-up.

We then walked along to Crusoe's on the beach where we were treated to ice creams thanks to the Wilson family. Thank you!
Then we walked all the way back to the Blue Reef Aquarium and saw fish of every variety.
Finally exhausted we made the long journey back to school on the bus!

The children have all been stars in our “Showtime” topic. They have danced, sang and been puppeteers both in the theatre and on the stage! Their creative ideas in dressing up and making plays know no bounds! This has been an excellent topic for social development, speaking & listening and extending vocabulary. They say the quiet ones are the worst – they certainly found there voice and confidence up on that stage! The children made finger, hand and mask puppets which they took into the theatre and made up their own shows-wonderful!
Our European Day was a resounding success –thank you to you all for the marvellous effort in providing the children with red & yellow or Spanish costumes! Please note that the KS1 children are supporting Spain in the European Cup and we display the results to watch their progress. Good Luck Spain! !Viva la Spania!
Mrs Ostell applied for some funding last year and with it she (I) decided on a new canopy for our outdoor play area.
The new canopy has now been fitted and it has been a great welcome as we now have some shade for the outdoor area. In rain (or snow) we can go outside to watch and listen to the raindrops and snowflakes and look at the patterns they make on the roof. The canopy will enable us to use the outdoor area all year now.
St. Mary’s Duckpool Pre-school provides education and childcare in pre-school sessions for children from age three years up to school age.

They were quizzed on many dangerous things in our homes and taught a rhyme to stay away from matches.
There was a big treat at the end of the visit when the fire engine pulled into the car park. The children were shown where everything is stored safely then they tried to put out imaginary fires with the very heavy hoses. The children decided at the end of the visit that being a fire fighter is hard work but they really enjoyed the visit.
