We had a visit from Fireman Lenny from Swalwell Fire Station, who came to teach us all about how to keep our houses safe, and what to do if there id a fire. We practiced shouting "GET OUT, CALL THE FIRE BRIGADE and STAY OUT!" so loudly, that even Year 6 could hear us! We also learned the rhyme:
"Matches, lighters never touch -
they can hurt you very much!"
Here we are finding out about hazards around the home..
...and we tried on all the parts of a firefighter's uniform.
Ollie and Rebecca received this certificate on behalf of our class. It says that we are all now "Junior Fire Safety Officers for Tyne and Wear Fire & Rescue Service"!
We learned an awful lot. Don't forget to check the batteries in those smoke alarms!!!
