Children from Yr3,Yr4,Yr5 and Yr6 enjoyed a treat at the CLC on Wednesday. Several poets were invited to share their ideas and poems for a poetry festival and we were lucky enough to book up quickly.
Craig was very funny and made up lots of poems just using words that the children suggested. He entertained us all for nearly two hours then the children had to try and make up a second verse of a poem that they started all together. Daniel's went like this;
I am an astronaut
I went to the moon
I saw a band of aliens
Playing a wicked tune
That band is really weird
But they played a great tune
Some were playing there beard
So it made them look like loons!
They played for 3 hours straight
Like my uncle Burt
Still they are playing great
But now my ears hurt!
Michael and Nikhil was also very good;
I am an astronaut I went to the moon
I saw a band of aliens playing a wicked tune.
I made new friends and played hopdobiedoo
I slept there and then went to Neptune.
I got trapped by Martians and slept day and night
until I got let go and went back out of sight.
and finally Lucy and Rachael from Year 3 used some great rhyming words;
I am an astronaut
I went to the moon
I saw a band of aliens
Playing a good tune
Playing a tune on stars
As we flew to Mars
We passed an astronaut on the sun
He was dancing and having fun
I know the children all had a lot of fun being creative and will share their ideas with the other children back in school.
