A bit of a problem in Year 2....

This term in Year 2 we have been focusing on problem solving. Our maths lessons have been very practical and hands on.

Problem Solving

We have looked at a large range of mathematical problems and tried to solve them.

We have investigated how many ways we can make 20 by adding 4 different numbers.

We have tried to solve a problem involving 3 Monkeys trying to decide how many nuts they can eat.

We have also been solving problems with Pentominoes! We used cubes to find as many unique shapes as we could. It took 2 days to find there were only 12 unique pentimonoes. Some groups found all 12.

In Science we are looking at Materials. We conducted a scavanger hunt in our classroom to find things which were made from wood, metal, plastic and glass. Here is one Y2 member who is enjoying his scavanger hunt.
