This half term Connor and Anna report all the news from Y6….
On the 29th of January 2009, Vincent Cheng, age 11 from Y6 went round the classes to talk about Chinese New Year and all about the year of the Ox. We have also been evacuated.

He told us about all of the bad spirits and how they affected the people of Ancient China. He brought in some fire crackers which the Chinese people set on fire every year at the celebrations. He also brought in a red vest made of silk. This and the fire crackers are red because this scares the EVIL SPIRITS away. We thank Vincent sincerely for his efforts.
On Monday the 2nd of February 2009 we all loved playing in the snow; we had so much fun when it started to snow very heavily we just couldn’t stop, You may have noticed all the pictures of us playing in the snow; making snow men, igloos and snow angels. We all love the snow!
On Monday the 9th of February 2009 a lady came in to talk about how to use the Internet safely, this was very helpful and YR5 and YR6 enjoyed the talk as well as learning something new, so they should now know how to use the Internet safely.
Yr6 are going to Beamish Museum on Thursday the 12th of February 2009 to be evacuated; just like the children of WW2. They will be treated like the children from that time. Y6 will be dressing up in the style of the 1940’s as well as the helpers who are already there. When we get there, we will be helping out on the farm, then after lunch we will be exploring the museum. We hope we will enjoy the trip! (Miss Hunt will put pictures of us all dressed up on the website very soon after the trip but here is what we might look like!)

We have recently had an extension to the front of the school, giving us a new, bigger computer suite so that there will be no-one (except for the classes which have over 30 pupils) sharing a computer, which enables better education for the children. We also have a more modern main entrance for visitors and children who are late getting into school. The Head Teacher; Mrs. McMillan, and the Secretary; Mrs. Noble, now have bigger, better separate offices to work in to help the school.
Last week an inspector came in and talked and listened to the Pupil Council about the school dinners. We had a very interesting discussion which we hope will encourage more people to go on school dinners.
STOP PRESS We looked fabulous at Beamish and had lots of fun despite the snow!
