The idea of the trail was to teach the children that maths is all around us - not just in the classroom - and that it can be fun. The children made a positive contribution to the "mathematical art" which has been put on display in the Baltic art centre. Some of the children were lucky enough to be interviewed by the Evening Chronicle and ITV Evening news.
Molly Cochrane, quoted in the Evening Chronicle, said: "The trail makes you see all the shapes around you. I've never noticed them before, especially in the MetroCentre because you just go there to do your shopping, but there are shapes everywhere.

"
