Year Four, Autumn Term 2008

« Boys Football Team | Main | Autumn Term Newsletter »

Year Four have only been back to school for 6 weeks and have done so much already!

Reading in the Library

First, we welcomed Kai Yuan Zheng who joined our class in September. Kai comes all the way from Shanghai, he is settling in to our school and making friends.

As a brand new Government initiative all of Year Four will be learning to play the trumpet this year - including Mrs Wright! We have been provided with 15 brand new instruments and 30 mouthpieces so the children can share a trumpet and take it home to practice. Mr Milner comes in to teach the class each Tuesday afternoon.

We enjoyed a visit from a Theatre Group last week who performed Pack Up Your Troubles to the whole school. It was an excellent performance and really helpful with our historical stories topic in Literacy.

On Thursday we went to Whickham Library where we found out many new facts about The Tudors.
Year Four at the Library

The children love studying this topic especially the part about Henry Vlll and all the horrible things he did to people he didn't like particularly his six wives. As it was National poetry day we read limericks about the Tudors kings and queens. We liked the one about Henry Vlll;

King Henry was as fat as a boar
He had six wives and still wanted more.
Anne and Kate said,
"By heck! He's a pain in the neck!"
As their heads landed smack on the floor
