Autumn in Y6

Y6 have had a fantastic term so far, learning about WW2, reading "Carrie's War" and composing our own exciting and descriptive poems!

Y6 also really, really enjoyed the play " Pack Up Your Troubles" which was produced by a visiting theatre company. Their favourite chracter was the news paper boy.
Recently Y6 have also been writing poetry based on the work of famous poets. Here is one of the poems written by Kieran inspired by a the work of the poet Kit Wright:

A Poem Based on `The Magic Box

I will put in the box

A wise mans ancient staff with a voice as gruff as a bear,
A group of angry protesters marching for amity,
And a phone with a cheesy ring tone playing none stop.

I will put in the box

A melting candle from a deserted house,
The rock hard nightstick of a law enforcer,
The feathery wings of a soaring bald eagle.

My box is made out of rock, ice and mud,
The lid is made out of thousands of tarantula webs,
And in the corners are mystical creatures hiding from the
Sunlight.

I will play my box as an instrument.
What tunes it plays, sounds that have never been heard
Before and an unknown cause.

Y6 are looking forward to visiting Eden Camp and performing their production of " The Snow Queen". Watch this space!!!
