What's Happening in School Summer Term
Summer Term 2008
Lent 2008
There was a FANTASTIC response to the fundraising by pupils for our sponsorship during Lent.
The total of £800 has been sent to the two following concerns, St Cuthbert Care our Diocesan Charity and to our Partner community in Kenya to support children and their families who are displaced, sick or orphaned in the current troubled times.
Year 6 pupils have written to the local press The Journal which published their story, to the M.P. for Blaydon David Anderson, to Mr Brown, the Prime Minister, to Mr David Milliband the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. All of whom have replied to their letters requesting support and aid from the British Government to support Kenya and other troubled areas in the world to ensure that Children’s Rights are Respected.
Mr Anderson recently visited Yr 6 and was very impressed by their knowledge and interest in world events.
Mr Milliband will visit school on 6th June to meet our pupils and hear their concerns. This is CITIZENSHIP in Action.
SAT’s Preparation
The pupils in Yr 2 and Yr 6 have been working hard throughout the year to prepare for end of Key Stage Assessments, which will take place during May. A special request from all teachers to parents could you ensure that your child/children come to school every morning, having had a drink and breakfast or fruit, as the children need their energy and brain food.
Thank You.
