Year One 2006 -2007
Well doesn't time fly? I can't believe we have come to the end of another school year. We've been so busy in Year One this term with our topic, Under the Sea. The children have made fish using all sorts of medium, paper, felt, collage materials, paint to name but a few. We had a fantastic trip to the Toy Museum at Tynemouth, where Maureen talked about old mechanical toys and showed us how they worked, then we explored the museum, which is full of fascinating toys.
From here we went to find shelter in a cafe on the beach, the children were allowed to picnic on the floor as it was quite wet outside. Nathan's uncle was in the cafe and treated all the children free ice-cream! This brightened up our day as well as the weather!
After that we finished our trip at the Blue Reef Aquarium. The chidlren could now see all the things they have been looking at in books, up close and swimming about.
We also have had our usual trips to Whickham Library. Christine prepared some non-fiction books and the children had to listen really carefully so that they could complete the quiz afterwards. Whickham Library always make our school very welcome and we have tried different activities and chosen many books throughout the year.
We have been reading and sharing maths games with our buddies in Year 6 now that they have finished their SATS and have a little time to relax before leaving our school.
