First Holy Communion Day

« School Holiday Dates 2007/2008 | Main | Confirmation Time at St. Mary's »

On June 16th the children in Year 3 along with Kate and Laura Kelly,Scarlet Colligan and Daniel Graham went to our Parish Church of St. Mary's to make their First Holy Communions.

It was a fine day, thank goodness and the church was very full. We had a wonderful celebration with songs and readings and prayers and a reflective dance. We had our photographs taken and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Fr Humble was helped by another priest who was a friend of Megan's. When we received the Blessed Sacrament for the first time we felt very special.
After the service we all went over to the school hall and had a lovely breakfast. Then we went home to continue the celebrations.

We would like to thank everyone who helped us this year; our catechists, our teachers, Fr Humble, the children who sang in the choir, Louise who sang the psalm, the ladies who helped in the hall, Sandy who made the food and anyone else we might have left out.
On the following Monday, in school, we enjoyed our delicious cake and everyone agreed that we had had a splendid time.
