Maths trail on the Quayside
Once again Dr Maths organised a Maths Trail in Newcastle. This year it was along the Quayside and some of the children from KS2 accompanied by parent helpers had to follow the trail and solve the puzzles. This event is to show the chldren that maths is important in our everyday lives, not just in lessons at school.
Click here to read some of the thoughts about the trail from children in Year 3 and Year 4.
The children enjoyed the whole experience. Keiran from Year 4 said, "I like the way you use the buildings around us and questions about the number or pattern on the building, for instance the pattern on the floor next to the swing bridge."
Shannon from Year 4 commented," The thing I like about the maths trail is because its fun having maths outside. I liked the bit where you had to work out the time for the earliiest/latest bus and then find out the time in between."
"The maths trail was very enjoyable. My favourite part was counting the lions." said Andrew Latimer, Year 4
Stephanie Booth from Year 3 said she liked doing the activities because they were fun. Some of them were really hard but she quite liked working them out.
Daniel from Year 3 said,"I like it where you have to look for things, it's a little bit hard. The tally chart was good."
