Mrs Barrett Year Five
Well yet again this has been a really busy year for Year 5. We have welcomed 3 new class members, Anna, Ben and Charlton and they have settled in really well, so much so that we cant's imagine life without them now.
During this last term we have also had the benefit of Miss Butler and she has beeen great. We especially like the Aztec masks and the Assembly that we prepared with Year 6 and Miss Richardson.
Back in the Autumn Term we began the groups for Literacy and Numeracy and we were taught with some Year 6 children. It was quite dificult at first but in the long run we think we have all made great progress because of it. We also joined with Year 6 to produce and perform 'A Christmas Carol' - it was great fun.
Spring Term flew by as we continued to work hard and Wednesday afternoons became firm favourites with our Enrichment studies of Art with Mrs. Connor, French with Madames Barrett and Davidson, Music with Miss Hunt and History and Geography with Miss Mace.
In this Summer Term we began with the dreaded SATS but they didn't last long and now we've moved on to the good stuff! We have Athletics Meeting, a Cricket Tournament and our visit to Whickham Thornes to look forward to.
Our visitors and visits this year have been to and from many different places. There was the Fire Station at Swalwell, with and thanks to Mr Carabine, the Synagogue at Gosforth, where we met and learned so much about the Jewish Faith with Mrs. Van de Burgh, our French and German visitors from our Comenius school, Sr. Joyce and Sr. Victoria and the teachers from Kenya and not forgetting Wilson the Masai Warrior as well as the usual Music Workshops, Library vists etc. which we all enjoy so much and without which school life would be so much duller.
Thanks to Fr. Michael for some lovely, prayerful Masses and Liturgies and loads of best wishes to our Reception Class 'Buddies' who have been stars this year (remember the metro centre). We have loved being their special friends
Are we ready for Year 6? - 'BRING IT ON' and anyway Mrs. Barrett needs a rest from us!
