Friends of St Mary's

All parents of pupils at St. Mary's become 'Friends of St. Mary's' as de facto members of the association.

The contribution the 'Friends' make to school is extremely valuable.

The education of our children is a collective responsibility shared by parents, teachers, Church and community and the school seeks to reflect this co-operative responsibility in it's life and organisation.

At an Annual General Meeting, held in September, a committee is appointed to organise social events for pupils or for parents in addition to fundraising events, eg:

* Termly disco's for pupils
* '200' club with monthly draw
* Body Shop party
* Balloon Race
* Sponsored events
* Webb Ivory
* Summer Fair
* Quiz Night
* Parent's Disco

The funds raised by the 'Friends' support major developments in school, such as:

* Additional computers for the ICT Suite
* New staging for school productions
* Additional reading books
* Maths equipment
* Video Camera
